About Us
To accurately describe Metamorphosis, I have to first tell you a little more about me, Monica Hudson :)
Since childhood, I have always been a lover of fashion, but I have never had a body size that felt acceptable according to our societal beauty standards. As many can relate, this led me to try and lose weight and try and dress 'like everyone else'. Shockingly, this didn't bring me joy.
As I started to recover, and gain the weight back, I still found it really difficult to be both sustainable and feel able to express myself aesthetically as most charity shops, vintage stores, boutiques were (and are) still mostly catering to smaller clothing sizes.
This led me to start my business, The Fat Kid, as a way to reclaim the identity and to celebrate bodies of all sizes. Though the name has a special place in my heart, I found it to be a barrier for some who are still on that journey of self-love and acceptance themselves. And thus, Metamorphosis was born.

About metamorphosis
Metamorphosis maintains the ethics and purpose of The Fat Kid. The re-brand has been merely a way to shift the focus from weight and onto self-discovery and expression. And, as the name suggests, I believe that self-expression can be as easily transformed as your aesthetic, no two days need to fit into the same narrow box. Be the version of yourself that feels expansive.
I am a huge advocate of taking up space, rebelling, being uniquely yourself and for celebrating the things that make us feel truly inspired.
For me, that is textures, excessive jewellery, and clothing with character that fits comfortably.
Metamorphosis is a store that centres curvy bodies and focuses on giving a second life to clothing pieces that deserve a home.
Because the items are all thrifted, the size range will always vary but it is my dedication that I am always searching for unique pieces in a range that the curvy baddies can actually enjoy. In the near future, some items will be made in house. Whether completely from deadstock, or upcycled, to expand accessibility and sustainability even more.
